Esan Central of Edo State Security Operatives, known as Atalakpa Vigilante group says its determined to wipe out criminals from its domain and has handed a quit notice to all criminals, armed robbers, kidnappers, banditry, herdsmen, and fulanis operating in Esan and the entire Edo State to quit.
Speaking to City Express News during the inauguration of the Edo Central Strike Force in Benin City, Edo State, Mr. Yusuf Haruna, who represented the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, said the strike force comprises of volunteers from the five local government council areas of Esan land.
Mr. Haruna reiterated that the police cannot do it alone hence the need to reach out to people of proven integrity for support, and a road map to educate, inform and enlighten the general public about the enormous security challenges that confront the state.
Esan Solidarity Forum that powered the Strike Force has assured that Esan land and the entire Edo State will soon remain free of criminals. In a chat with City Express News, Police Area Commander, ACP Atabor Festus, commended the people of Esan Central for the strike force, believing it will help to reduce crime rate.
ACP Festus said he believes in collaboration among security forces in combating crime. ” I am an advocate of inter-agencies co-operation without acrimony and without dispute as we are working for the same interest of national security and the betterment of our system”.
One of the members of the Atalakpa Vigilante group, Engineer Innocent Omozokpia from Ebele, Egueben local government area of Edo state also sounded a warning note to criminals in Esan and Edo State to quit in their own interest.
He said the warning became necessary as the Esan Security outfit had mapped out operational strategies to rid Esan land of dangerous elements. 250 Strike Force from five local government areas of Esan are selected for ” Operation Weep Out Criminals.”
Engineer Omozokpia hailed Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki for donating 10 patrol cars, handcuffs, bullet proof vest and security equipment to carry out the assignment to the letter.
