A landlord, Mr. Adebayo Michael of 7, Adekunjo street, Bolorunpelu Egbe, in Ikotun area of Lagos may have chew more than he can swallow as he could be facing criminal charges for threatening the lives of his tenant, acts of intimidation, harassment, and obtaining 150 thousand
naira by false pretence.
Already, the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Sylvester Abioud Alabi, has been petitioned concerning the illegal activities of Mr. Adebayo. The landlord had collected the sum of 150thousand naira from his tenant Mrs. Yinka Pius Izobo, a retired army major, yet is denying her access to her apartment locking the gates after.
His prosecution may commence very soon if he failed to redress his actions, as the lawyer to Mrs.Yinka Izobo, Barrister Sunny Ebhojiaye of P.S.I. Ebhojaiye has taken over the matter expressing concern over the unlawful actions.
City EXPRESS NEWS gathered the landlord and his wife are always threatening the tenant with quit notice, and has refused to follow it with formal letter, following the due process of notice to quit tenancy agreement of Lagos State tenancy law 2011.
According to the human rights lawyer and solicitor to Mrs. Izobo, the landlord is guilty of depriving his tenant her fundamental human rights, and rights to freedom of passage, and restriction of her movement.
He is also guilty of locking the tenant out by padlocking the gates to the premises without any genuine reason. The landlord Mr. Adebayo Michael Ola has sent a message to his tenant, Mrs. Izobo of the need to pay her rent, in which Mrs. Izobo the next day sent 150 thousand naira to his Polaris account No. 1765519615 with phone number 08023175695. Immediately the overzealous landlord got the transferred money, he quickly sent a message back to Mrs. Izobo acknowledging receipt of the money. According to their conversations, “Good morning madam, God blesses richly, while madam replied back, Amen”.
City EXPRESS NEWS got all the transactions messages. The question now is why did Mr. Adebayo Michael still persecuting Mrs Izobo and her lodgers in the premises when he had already collected rent money and still want to eject the tenant?. We shall get you posted.
It's very disappointing that City ExpressNews.comtiiiot carryout their investigation before putting this on Social Media. This is malicious and scandalous since it's a miscarriage of justice
The said Tenant rented the flat for personal use but turned the flat into lodging which is contrary to Tenancy Agreement. She brought in various types of hardened face smoking marijuana and weed substances in the flat and premises and this was reported to them until the said premises became unsafe and one of the apartment of other Tenant burgled with clothes, cash and valuable stolen. It was also treated with levity, uncared and nonchalant attitudes when reported to Mr. and Mrs. Pius Izobo. The premises became terribly unsafe with all sorts of atrocities with Battery of vehicle and maruwa removed, other Tenants Clothes/wearing apparel and shoes continually stolen freely and unabated. All Tenants in the premises including Representative of the said Tenant had a joint meeting and resolved to be locking the main gate to tighten their security and guarantee their personal Safety. Awaiting the intervention of whomsoever concerned where evidence and clarification with other Tenants could be made. However, my Lawyer has taken over the case and petition done on the matter.
