Activist Lawyer Ebhojiaye stands still for Women.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global annual day sets aside on 8th March every year to commemorate the cultural, political and socio-economic achievements of women world wide.  It is also a focal point in the Women’s rights movement, bringing attention to national issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.

The Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, under the leadership of CP Abioud Alabi used the day to mobilized women gender unit led by CSP Grace Agboola to celebrate the day.

Human Rights Advocate Prince Sunny Ebhojiaye(JP) used the day to challenge Nigerian women to endeavour to excel in their chosen fields so as to contribute their quota to national development.

He commended the Nigerian women groups under the umbrella of womanifest not to give up hope on gender equality. He vowed to do whatever is in his power to make   the National Assembly members (NASS) to reconsider gender related bills before them.

According to him, this is a dawn for humanitarian women support for equality. Barrister Sunny Ebhojiaye appealed to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, to reconsider and ensure immediate passage of the five women gender related bills.

He said denying women a chance in leadership positions amounted to denying half of Nigeria’s population the voice and opportunity to contribute to governance and development. The veteran journalist cum human rights lawyer said that any country that fails to empower women would not only be deprived of peace and development, but also have no life partner.

‘If we do not give women a chance to be partaker in government they would become problem for us. Women should be given equal rights and privileges to represent in governance and support themselves in their chosen career.’

City EXPRESS NEWS gathered why civil rights crusader lawyer, Sunny Ebhojiaye has soft and passion for women gender is that he was the piooner first female football writer in 1987 and he has written full magazine sports illustrated magazine, titled Genesis of female football in  1989 and one of three Nigerian journalists that covered first female football world cup in China in 1991. 

He is also the president  Miss Nigeria Independence Beauty Pageant organization that parades five beauty Queens, Miss Africa Intercontinental, Miss Nigeria Independence, Miss Niger Delta and Miss Photogenic. He is always a friend to women.
