Ahead of 2023 elections, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) is determined to ensure all workers participate fully and elect credible Nigerians into position.
Towards this TUC is inaugurating political commissions in the Western, Northern, and Eastern parts of the country, to sensitise all workers and the people towards their roles; getting their Pvc ready and making themselves available.
Trade Union Congress President, Comrade Quadri Olaleye said this in Lagos at a press conference where members of the political commission for the Western states, comprising Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ondo states were inaugurated.
Already, the political commission for the Eastern states has been inaugurated in Enugu, comprising almost eleven states, with each state having 5 members from the Trade Union Congress.

To show its readiness, TUC recently convened a political round table in Abuja, with the Theme, ‘The role of Organised Labour in promoting participatory democracy and good governance in Nigeria: Perspective on 2023 General Elections.
The TUC president told newsmen that the Congress has discovered that the inactive participation of workers in politics has put them in a pitiable condition and is one of the reasons affecting the implementation of the minimum wage since 2019.
According to him, ‘ we want a situation whereby in 2023 elections, all workers will be fully mobilised to go out and elect the best candidates, as 2023 is very important to the working class in the country.’ He assured that members of the political commission accross the country will work assiduously to sensitise workers.

Comrade Olaleye assured that by next week Trade Union Congress will roll out its political agenda after members have gone round the zones.
Meanwhile, Trade Union Congress has denied being part of any group set out to destabilise the country. The Department of State Services (DSS) few days ago said some people which include the Labour movement are trying to cause crisis in the Northern part of the country to replicate the EndSars protest.
The TUC president said he was worried and feel concern that the labour movement was mentioned. He challenged the DSS to do its proper vetting and get to the root of those involved.
He however said if DSS was referring to the mobilisation of the TUC towards 2023 to educate members on their roles to have their PVC ready to elect the best candidates to change and move the country forward to ensure that the working class is properly cared for, then TUC will continue to mobilise.
