ASCSN suspends national treasurer, as it vows to file criminal charges against Bola-Audu and his cohorts.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, (ASCSN) rose above the crisis that has engulfed it in the last few months, as it held a 2- day peaceful National Executive Council(NEC) meeting in Ikeja, Lagos where far reaching decisions were taken to reposition the Association and move it forward.

The Association affirmed that the crisis is over as the Bola-Audu led cohorts has no locus stand as decided by the law court.

NEC also confirmed the decision to allow the National President Comrade Tommy Okon to complete his tenure. In one of its major decisions, the National Treasurer, Comrade Rahab Maigari was suspended for her roles in the crisis transferring the money of the Association to another account and collaborating with the Bola Audu and his cohorts. A five member committee was set up to look into her case for fair trial. In her place, Mallam Shehu Mohammed was appointed in acting capacity.

For his dedication and loyalty, Comrade Joshua Apebo was appointed as the Secretary General from January 2023 to take over from Comrade Alade Bashir Lawal who will leave office on 31st December 2022.

The National President, Comrade Tommy Okon speaking to newsmen said there was no crisis in the union as the Secretariat taken over by the Bola Audu cohorts has been taken over and functional, as the court has dismissed all the claims against the Association. He said the Association would press criminal charges against all those who invaded the Secretariat, vandalising, and those who steal the Association money. He expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of police for the role played by the police for being neutral and obeying court orders.

Secretary General of the Association, Comrade Alade Bashir Lawal also said the Association was intact. He said those who were expelled engaged in unconstitutional conducts inimical to the progress of the Association. A delegate, Comrade Igbokwe Chukwuma, Assistant Secretary General from Enugu state said the Association would continue to wax stronger as it is bigger than any individual. He said any decision taken by the National Executive Council is above any decision outside the Association as members can decide how the union must be run. Chairmen, Secretary Generals from the 36 branches across the country were at the meeting.

Speaking with newsmen , the National President Comrade Tommy Okon also spoke on national issues. Speaking on the national minimum wage, he said cost of living, inflation have eroded its value and pledged that the organised labour will engage the government on the need to increase it. He said the current wage is not sufficient because cost of living continue to rise daily.

On plans to remove fuel subsidy by the government, he said before the removal , government should put in place amenities such as housing for the workers, good network of roads, compulsory free education to the university level and provide living wages.

On the 2023 election, Comrade Okon called on workers to ensure they collect their permanent covers card, PVC and ensure they vote out politicians that do not have their interest in their heart.

A former president of the Association, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama bereated the actions of Bola Audu and his cohorts, as those outside feel disturbed for what happened. He said the court does not give presidency, but the power belongs to the union to give leadership. The National Executive Council meeting was peaceful and deliberations were conducted according to rules and orders of the Association.
