NRC appeals to motorists to use constructed over passes for their safety.

The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation NRC says it has the safety of the people in mind when constructing railway lines hence it builds over passes at diffent locations along the railway lines.

The Corporation in a statement signed by the Deputy Director Public Relations Mallam Yakub Mahmood said in particular there are two constructed over passes at diffent locations within the Kubwa environs for ease and safety of crossing railway lines of Abuja – Kaduna train service.

NRC said motorists for reasons best known to them avoid using them but instead resort to using illegally constructed level crossing which constitute danger to them.

NRC said in the modernization policy of the railway services by the Federal government, the safety of motorists and trains are put into consideration hence the construction of overpasses along the railway corridor.

It appealed to motorists not to ignore the overpasses as they are constructed to ensure their safety.

Recently, a Principal Accountant with NTA 5, Abuja, Mrs Salmat Idowu Sulaiman using one of the illegal constructed level crossing had a collision with an Abuja – Kaduna train in which she lost her life.
