Attack on bank workers: NUBIFIE threatens to call out members to stay off duties until situation improves.

The leadership of National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) has appealed to the
Federal Government, Central Bank of Nigeria and various stakeholders to strive and put an end to the untold hardship the people face as a result of the CBN currency/cash withdrawal policy.

In a statement signed by NUBIFE General Secretary, Mohammed I. Sheik the Union also condemned attack on bank officials while doing their work. The union called for adequate protection for bank workers to safeguard their lives and not expose them to danger.

It could be recalled that several bank officials have been attacked by angry customers as a result of their frustration in collecting money from the banks and ATM.

NUBIFIE said any attempt to continue harassing or intimidate her members while carrying out their duties, the Union will not hesitate to call out them to stay off duties nationwide until situation improves.

The Union symphatises with ordinary Nigerians who are unable to assess their funds deposit in the banks.

NUBIFIE also called on the Central Bank of Nigeria to review its cash withdrawal policy which has affected the
business of over 200,000 Point of Sales (POS) business in Nigeria.
