ASSIBIFI asks commercial bank workers to stay at home.

Following disturbances in parts of the country as a result of non availability of the new naira notes and inability to spend the old one thousand and five hundred notes , several banks have been attacked with the violence not abated.

The Association of Senior Staff of Banks Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSIBIFI) concern about the safety of lives of her members today directed bank workers to stay at home in any state or bank branches where there is violence until normalcy is restored.

A statement signed by ASSIBIFI National President, Mr. Olusoji Oluwole said the National Secretariat of the Association has been inundated with reports of threats and attacks on the lives and properties of members.

The Association said its appeal to concern authorities and government to ensure the safety of bank workers and properties around bank premises have not been met.

The Association said today Friday 17th of February 2023, one bank at Epe, in Lagos state was under attack.

It said the order became necessary as it cannot leave the lives of members to danger.

Reports from Ogun and Lagos state today said there were serious disturbances in Ifo, Sango Otta in Ogun state, Ikorodu area, Ojota and Igando, of Lagos state.
