NRC sets to introduce express train services between Apapa and Kajola.

As part of the Federal Government palliative measures to cushion the effect of the petroleum subsidy removal to the barest minimum on the citizenry, the Nigerian Railway Corporation says it intends to begin Mass Transit express passenger Train Code-Named “Apapa Express’ between Apapa and Kajola on the Standard Gauge Railway Line soon.

A statement released by the Deputy Director Public Relations Yakub Mahmood attributed this to the Director Operations of the Corporation, Mr Akin Osinowo on behalf of the Managing Director Engineer Fidet Okhiria.

According to him the stopping stations for the Apapa express Train include-Mobolaji Johnson, Agege, Agbado and finally Kajola.

He further said this train service will surely reduce the hardship experienced by commuters especially those plying Apapa to Kajola route.

Mr Akin Osinowo therefore appealed to passengers to ensure that they obtain tickets at the designated stations before boarding the train.

Correspondent Afolabi Oyekunle says if comes to reality the train services will be a big relief to thousands of passengers who ply the route and spend hours trying to get to their destinations.

He also observed that the service coupled with the expected red line train service by the Lagos State government will help decongest the roads of passengers and reduce hours spend on the road.
