NRC says its coaches are intact and not stolen.

Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has refuted claims that some of its coaches have been stolen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, stating that the said Coaches were being moved by officials of the NRC to the Corporation’s Running Shed in Jos, Plateau State to be overhauled and put back into operations.

Recall that reports of the foiling of a suspected theft of train coaches of the NRC at the Maiduguri Railway Terminus trended on some online mediums in the evening of Saturday, revealing that the suspected thieves were also arrested by men of the Nigerian Police Force following a tip-off by good Samaritans.

Debunking the report of the theft of train Coaches on Saturday night, the Managing Director of the NRC, Engineer Fidet Okhiria explained that the people moving the Coaches were doing so in official capacity.

According to the NRC MD, “The attention of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has been drawn to news trending on numerous social media platforms purported to have emanated from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), in which it was reported that attempt was made to steal NRC coaches from Maiduguri.

“The NRC management wishes to clarify this erroneous report by stating that the said Coaches are officially being moved to NRC Running Shed in Jos, Plateau State to be overhauled and put back into operation.

“NRC is trying to extend Rail Mass Transit all over the country.”
